Dating safely

Most people on WOW are here for the same reason you are. These habits keep you safe with the few who are not.

In an emergency

While you are chatting

• Keep the chat on WOW until you trust the person. Our report and block tools only work here.
• Never send money. No loans, recharges, gift cards, crypto, "investment tips" or help with a customs fee. Anyone who asks, whatever the story, is almost certainly a scammer. Report them.
• Guard your details. Do not share your home address, workplace, financial details or OTPs.
• Video call before you meet. It is the fastest way to check someone is who they say they are.
• Look for the verified badge, but remember it only means their selfie matched their photos.
• Do not share intimate photos. If someone threatens to leak images unless you pay, do not pay. Save the chat, report the account on WOW, and report at cybercrime.gov.in. StopNCII.org can help stop images spreading.

When you meet

• Meet somewhere public and busy, like a cafe, and stay there for the first date.
• Tell a friend. Use Share my date in the app's Safety screen to send them who you are meeting, where and when.
• Get there and back on your own, by your own vehicle, a cab or the metro. Keep your phone charged.
• Stay in control. Watch your drink and do not leave it alone.
• Leave whenever you want. You do not owe anyone an explanation.

Afterwards

If anything felt wrong, report it, even after you have unmatched. Reports are confidential and help keep others safe.
